
Perform Basic MIG Welding for Beginners
Over the 27 hours (3hrs x 9 Wks.) of training, you will gain a basic understanding of MIG welding, including torch techniques and practical experience. This course is suitable for beginners, or those who already have a level of welding skill. Our trainers have years of experience as Boilermaker / Welders, Welding Inspectors or Welding Supervisors.
Time: Weekly, Wednesday, 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM for 9 Weeks
Learning outcomes
During this course you will learn to:
- Perform thermal cutting using oxy-acetylene equipment
- Perform basic gas metal arc welding {MIG}
- Skills to perform basic MIG welding
Course Outcome
Although this course is NOT nationally recognised and cannot be used for credit transfer, it has a potential pathway for you to continue further study in the welding industry and to obtain ISO AS/NZS 9606 Welder qualification / certification.
Entry requirements
- There are no entry or skills requirements for this course
- students must be a minimum of 18 years old
- Students must be registered as a student member of EMH Industries
Personal requirements
Personal protective equipment (PPE) including one-piece cotton drill overalls or cotton drill trousers, a cotton long sleeve shirt (no nylon), steel-capped boots, long leather gloves, oxy goggles, Auto-Darkening Helmet or basic welding Helmet with No. 10 Lens, safety glasses and earmuffs/earplugs. All PPE must be suitable for welding.
